Bore gauge – a measuring instrument for measuring internal dimensions, primarily bore diameters. Dial gauge bore gauge The instrument usually contains a dial gauge with a graduation of 0.01 mm. The instrument is equipped with a mechanism (wedge or lever) that converts the transverse movement of the measuring tip, resulting from a change in diameter, into longitudinal movement of the dial gauge stem. For ranges up to several millimetres, instruments are manufactured with graduations every 1–2 mm. For larger dimensions, adjustable extensions are used. The measurement uncertainty depends on the nominal diameter of the hole, the accuracy of the sensor readings, the accuracy of the standard, the measurement conditions (temperature), and the operator’s skill, and ranges from a few to several micrometres. The bore gauge is suitable for use in industry: metalworking, etc. It is ideal for any workshop, but not limited to that.
