The GL-PRO-2 paint thickness gauge is currently available in three versions:
- GL-PRO-2-FAZ – measurement on steel sheets (including galvanised) and aluminium sheets (automatic material recognition). The display indicates whether the component is aluminium, steel or galvanised steel.
- GL-PRO-2-FA – measurement on steel sheets (including galvanised) and aluminium sheets (automatic material recognition). The display only indicates whether the component is aluminium or steel, without distinguishing between galvanised and non-galvanised steel.
- GL-PRO-2-F – measurement on steel sheets only (including galvanised).
The GL-PRO series meters are solutions based on modern 32-bit processors, enabling fast and accurate measurement using a 12-bit converter.
The meters feature an innovative measuring probe design that enables spot measurement on steel, galvanised steel and aluminium sheets, automatically recognising the material being tested and displaying the material type on the screen. The probe is spring-mounted and ends with a so-called ball.
A distinctive feature of the GL-PRO-2-FAZ meter is its ability to automatically recognise whether a steel sheet is coated with a layer of zinc or is ungalvanised. This is particularly important when measuring on a car – it reveals which body parts have been replaced with cheaper, ungalvanised ones.Measurement range (paint thickness): 0µm to 2000µm. MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® FUNCTION
Provides guidance to the vehicle assessor as to whether the vehicle has undergone bodywork and paint repairs.
MEMORY
The built-in memory for 960 measurements allows you to freely review measurements after completing the measurement process. The memory is not erased when the device is switched off or the battery is removed. POWER SUPPLY

How the GRAPHICAL AND TEXT MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT functions work
When the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is enabled, the meter displays messages on the screen during measurements to indicate the condition of the bodywork:
- "ORIGINAL COAT" – correct paint (green scale)
- "DOUBLE COAT" – second coat of paint (yellow scale)
- "FILLER" – filled area (red scale)
The meter enables automatic detection of galvanised steel sheet. Detection occurs up to a paint thickness plus zinc thickness of approximately 550 µm.
This facilitates the assessment of the car, as damaged components are often replaced with non-galvanised parts. NOTE! There are instances where the gauge has failed to detect zinc on the steel sheet used in a replacement part, despite the replacement part manufacturer’s claim that the sheet is galvanised. On the same part, but an original one, zinc was detected. This is an additional advantage of the meter, as it makes it easier to detect a car that has been in an accident.
