An inflator is a device designed for rapid inflation of tyres on passenger cars, vans and lorries. The pressure tank, fitted with a pressure gauge showing the current pressure in the cylinder, facilitates the fitting of tubeless tyres; it is particularly recommended for hard, low-profile and run-flat tyres.

The inflator releases the stored pressure, thereby sealing the tyre onto the rim.
