English has also been added. The meter has also been fitted with a completely new measuring probe, a new high-quality improved casing, and the power supply has been changed to 2x AAA alkaline batteries. The set now also includes a new, high-quality zip-fastened case. What is the difference between the GL-6 and the GL-6S models? The GL-6 model has a measuring probe built into the meter, whereas the letter ‘S’ in the GL-6S model designation indicates that the meter’s measuring probe is located on a cable. The rest of the specifications and functions remain the same. ELECTRONICS The device is based on a modern, fast processor and a new measurement algorithm. PROBE The meter has a probe on a lead. Cable length approx. 65 cm. MEASUREMENT A distinctive feature of the GL-6s meter is its ability to measure on steel, galvanised steel and aluminium sheets. Measurement range (paint thickness) 0µm to 2000µm. Measurement resolution 10µm or 1µm. MEASUREMENT RELATIVE TO A REFERENCE POINT Using this function, measurements can be taken relative to a selected point. This function is useful when comparing several test areas on a car. Furthermore, this function is used to programme for different types of sheet metal (other metals). LED MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT FUNCTION It alerts the vehicle assessor as to whether the car has undergone bodywork and paint repairs. CALIBRATION The meter has a zeroing function (calibration); a zeroing plate is included in the set. TWO BUILT-IN LANGUAGES From the MENU, you can select one of two languages: Polish and English. The meter can also be adapted to other languages. MEMORY The built-in memory for 100 measurements allows you to freely review measurements after completing the measurement process. The memory is not erased when the device is switched off or the battery is removed. POWER SUPPLY 2x R3 (AAA) alkaline batteries (thin AA batteries). Thanks to its modern design, this meter is very economical. It is powered by just two so-called thin alkaline AA batteries. Battery life can reach up to several hours of continuous operation. BATTERY LEVEL INDICATOR The meter’s display features a battery level indicator. Thanks to this indicator, you won’t be caught out by a flat battery and can replace it in good time. EASY TO USE The meter is operated via a 10-function main menu, and navigation is carried out using a 2-button keypad. How the LED MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT function works When the function is enabled, the meter uses an LED to indicate the condition of the bodywork: LED off – paintwork is correct; LED flashing – second coat of paint; LED lit continuously – filler or multiple coats of paint. It should be noted that the ASSISTANT function is only intended to aid in the interpretation of measurements; it cannot serve as the basis for a definitive answer as to whether the car has undergone bodywork and paint repairs. Nevertheless, many people assessing cars do not really know what a given paint thickness signifies, which is why this function is designed to help with this. Measurement relative to a reference point Using this function, we can take measurements relative to a selected point. The function is useful when comparing several areas of the car. For example, we select a reference point on the left front door and then take measurements on other parts of the car. In this way, when taking a measurement on, for example, the roof, we obtain a result of -10 µm, which means that the roof has a paint layer that is 10 µm thinner than the left front door. The reference point is not deleted when the gauge is switched off. Furthermore, this function is used to programme a different type of sheet metal (other metals). When setting the reference point, simply do so on a clean sheet of metal; from then on, after selecting the material as the reference point, you will be able to take measurements on that exact type of sheet.
